Racontant des histoires personnelles dans son style désinvolte conjuguant chant et rap, Marilyne Léonard propose des chansons aux accents indie pop, apportant un soin particulier aux mélodies. Elle présente tout d’abord Bateaux au milieu du printemps 2021, un premier extrait au fort succès en radio et en playlists, puis poursuit en force avec les hits Honey and Dans la foule qui donnent le ton pour la suite. Au fil des huit titres qui peuplent sa mixtape, Vie d’ange (mai 2022), l’autrice-compositrice-interprète fait un grand tour sur elle-même : elle y agit comme coréalisatrice, en plus de s’activer à la guitare, aux claviers, à la prise de son et à la programmation.

Elle apparaît cette année-là en duo avec Jay Scott sur le EP concept de Qualité Motel, ainsi qu’en featuring sur le succès radio Cardin de Clay and Friends, assurant du même coup leur première partie en tournée. Après un premier été 2022 vécu sur scène partout au Québec — aux Francos de Montréal, au Festival d’été de Québec et au Festivoix, pour ne nommer que ces escales —, Marilyne Léonard a déposé ses valises pour une première fois à Paris à l’automne, assurant la première partie de -M- pour deux représentations dans des Zéniths en France.

Depuis, elle a lancé les deux extraits C’est ma lady et Gants blancs, deux avant-goûts de son prochain album prévu au printemps 2024.

Telling personal stories in her laid-back style that combines singing and rapping, Marilyne Léonard offers songs with indie pop accents, bringing a particular care to the melodies. She presented Bateaux in the middle of spring 2021, a first successful single on radio and in playlists, and followed-up with the hits Honey and Dans la foule which set the tone for the rest. Throughout the eight tracks that bring her mixtape Vie d’ange (May 2022) to life, the singer-songwriter-composer gives us the grand tour: she acts as co-producer, on top of busying herself on guitar, keyboards, sound recording and programming.

That same year, she appeared with Jay Scott as a duet on the Quality Motel concept EP, as well as a featured artist on Clay and Friends’ radio hit Cardin, opening up for them on tour as a result. Having lived onstage a first summer all over Quebec in 2022—at the Francos de Montréal, at the Festival d’été de Québec and at the Festivoix, to name but a few—Marilyne Léonard put down her suitcases for the first time in Paris that fall, opening for -M- for two performances in Zeniths in France.

Since then, she’s released two singles, C’est ma lady and Gants blancs, a taste of her upcoming album, due in spring 2024.
